SALTWELLS NATURE RESERVE
One of the UK's largest urban nature reserves - home to ancient bluebell woodlands, striking geology and nationally important heritage. Explore well-marked trails in what was once a mining landscape and is now alive with orchids, butterflies, ponds, and 16 species of dragonfly. Saltwells Nature Reserve is a jewel at the heart of the Black Country.

Dudley zoo and castle
The castle from where we got our name, step into 900 years of history at Dudley Castle - where legends, stunning views, and family adventures come alive in this 11th-century fortress set within a 200-acre site which houses the world's largest collection of Tecton buildings. Whether you're a ghost hunter or a casual explorer, tickets also include access to the zoo which is home to 1,300 animals.


Black country living museum
Covering 26 acres of former industrial land, the Black Country Living Museum is uniquely placed to tell the story of the creation of the world’s first industrial landscape. Over 50 authentic shops, houses and workshops have been carefully reconstructed to preserve the character of the region when its manufacturers bought worldwide fame to Black Country Towns.
Take a trip on the tram to explore the canal-side village, where you can meet and chat to the costumed characters, explore an underground mine and experience the authentic sights, sounds, smells and tastes from the past, in the town where the anchor for the Titanic was made.
Dudley canal and tunnel trust
Journey through 428 million years of history on award-winning underground canal tours. Sail past tree-lined basins, handmade tunnels and ancient limestone caverns to bring geology and heritage to life. Highlights include Shirts Mill Basin, Flooded Mine, Cathedral Arch and the Singing Cavern. Other tours are available with a picnic stop at Bumble Hole Nature Reserve as you explore the UK's second-longest navigable canal tunnel, or enjoy open-air cruises filled with wildlife and history.
